USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT VALENCIA TAXI SERVICE

Taxi Valencia

In this web you will find information about taxis from Valencia city and the area of 42 towns that surround the city and are all included as part of the Valencia taxi working area. Valencia city counts on 2861 active taxis. All taxis are white with the license number, the Valencian government emblem, and the phrase “AREA DE VALENCIA” all clearly shown on the back seat side doors, exactly as pictured at the header of this webpage, so that you can easily distinguish a taxi if you have not already visited Valencia.  It is easy to recognize taxis in Valencia given that they all have a fare unit on the roof in which you will be able to see a green light if the taxi is available or a lit number if it is occupied. The number indicates which fare is being applied to the client at the moment. The taxis also have a sign inside the front windshield, easily legible by pedestrians, indicating the status of the taxi, LIBRE (o LLIURE) or OCUPADO, AVAILABLE OR OCCUPIED.

Taxi ValenciaTo request taxi service, you can either hail any cab from the street that has the green light on the fare unit lit, or you can call any of the companies that operate in Valencia. The seat belt is obligatory for all passengers, even when traveling in the back passenger seats; the police could fine a passenger for not wearing a seat belt. Parents are responsible for their children riding in the taxi, not the taxi driver.  It is their responsibility to make sure their child is riding with the appropriate infant/child car seat or booster seat according to height and weight. The norm that a child counted as half a seat no longer applies. Taxis are authorized to have a maximum of 4 passengers even though some taxis due to their build can take more passengers. Legally no taxi is authorized to have more than 4 passengers plus the driver. All taxis in Valencia are equipped with a taximeter that determines the final import to be paid by the client. There are only two instances in which a supplement is added to the total shown on the taximeter: when leaving the airport and the seaport, 4 euros and 2,60 euros (for the year 2009) respectively. Taxis in Valencia can pick-up clients not only from Valencia city but also from the municipals that comprise the Joint Provision Area of Valencia. They can also pick-up clients from the areas that the Ministry of Development has jurisdiction over such as the rest of the seaports and airports of Spain, as long as they have a pick-up contract with all the client information available. ↑ Return to top
